Soft, crisp, and actually cooling, the Olive + Crate Cooling Eucalyptus Sheets went above and beyond when we put them to the test, earning a perfect score in every testing category. This is a sheet set that hot sleepers will appreciate night after night, thanks in large part to the breathable Tencel material. (Tencel is a brand that produces lyocell fiber, made from wood pulp. This material is used in the best eucalyptus sheets.) When we tested these, we noted that they were exceptionally soft and cool to the touch. The sheets are finished in a sateen weave rather than crisp percale—but still, we gave them a perfect breathability score, and we appreciated their super smooth, almost silk-like look and feel.

Available in eight colors and six sizes ranging from twin to split king, each Olive + Crate sheet set comes with a fitted sheet, a top sheet, and two pillowcases. We found them relatively easy to put on the bed, which we partially attributed to the deep 17.5-inch pocket of the fitted sheet. Our only significant complaint about these sheets is that they shrank slightly in the wash, but not enough to affect their fit or overall usability. All in all, we think they're the kind of sheets you'd look forward to sleeping in at the end of the day—and we wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself hitting the snooze button just because they're so comfy.

These sheets are made of linen, meaning they're lightweight, absorbent, and have a relaxed look. After testing them at home for over 20 nights, we noted that they felt dreamy to sleep on. It was relatively warm when we tested the sheets—temperatures ranged from 75 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit—but we found that they stayed sufficiently cool. We think they're ideal for hot summer months, when you might be more prone to getting overheated and sweaty.

One of our only complaints was how rough the fabric was right out of the package. Percale sheets are a popular bedding choice for those looking to stay cool at night—and for good reason. Lacostes's 100% Cotton Percale Sheets are lightweight, crisp, and breathable, making them especially suitable for those who tend to overheat at night. Although cotton often isn’t the best material when it comes to moisture management, these percale sheets dissipated moisture quickly and earned a perfect breathability score during our lab tests. And after handling the sheets, we found that they felt cool to the touch and remained that way. Based on our initial lab testing, we think these 220-thread-count sheets should provide enough airflow throughout the night to keep you at a comfortable temperature.

Despite their lightweight construction, we found that they still had a significant structure to them without feeling overly stiff. But one thing to keep in mind: When we first handled the unwashed sheets, we found them to be uncomfortable and scratchy. After just one wash, their texture improved greatly, and they felt softer and smoother. While we noticed a few loose threads on the sheets and pillowcases, they were very minor, and we didn’t find any other visible imperfections. Additionally, we were impressed with the sheet set’s durability, as they held up well after we scratched them with sandpaper and had no change in texture.

With a price of around $100 for a queen set, these sheets are definitely a steal—especially when you consider their impressive temperature-regulating capabilities, comfortable texture, and durability.

How It Performed Long-Term

When we put these sheets to the test in a real-life home for a month, they continued to impress us. The sheets fit well on our 11-inch-deep test mattress, and they didn't slip off, even when used by a self-described restless sleeper. They also continued to perform well in terms of breathability. They felt cool at night, and we think they are a great option for hot sleepers. They do come out of the dryer quite wrinkly, but we didn't notice any alteration in the fabric texture after repeated washings. If we had any larger complaint, it's that the standard-size pillows could be roomier to fully contain our test pillows.

After testing the West Elm Belgian Flax Linen Sheet Set, we can confirm that it's seriously luxurious. Not only do the sheets come in 22 color options (including a few patterns), but they are also made of 100 percent Belgian flax linen, helping you keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter. While they are very soft out of the package, as with most linen sheets, they get even softer the more you use them.

After sleeping on them for almost a week, we found these sheets to be breathable, cool to the touch, and soft. We noted that they only had a slight texture, unlike more abrasive linen options. Linen sheets typically provide a lived-in look, but some might take issue with how quickly these sheets can wrinkle. We recommend using dryer balls and fluffing the sheets in between washer and dryer cycles to help reduce unsightly creases and bunches from forming.
