While the Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheet Set is a bit on the pricey side, you can feel good about sleeping on the organic cotton fabric that's certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), meaning it passed a series of rigorous criteria that ensures the organic state of textiles through environmental and socially responsible manufacturing. In our testing, we noted that these sheets are smooth and silky, like a quintessential sateen sheet, and their construction blew us away.

We observed no issues with the sheets' quality upon first inspection or after running it through the washing machine and dryer. The even stitching, wide hemline, and slightly heavy weight all contribute to this feeling like a durable, luxurious sheet. (During testing, we noted that we think guests would be impressed to sleep on this sheet set!) We also loved that the sheets didn't crease much post-wash, a nice perk if you like wrinkle-free sheets.

Sateen isn't known for being particularly cooling, but these sheets garnered a perfect score in our breathability tests, too. We just wish the pillowcases had an envelope-style closure and the fitted sheet had long and short side labels, two small features we would love to see at such a price point. Overall, though, it combines all of the eco-friendly perks of organic materials with the soft, lustrous feel of quality sateen sheets that offer superior comfort all night long.

How It Performed Long-Term

We tested these sheets at home for six months and grew to love them even more with time. We had to adjust to the thick, dense texture of the sheets, but we appreciated that they held up—and even seemed to get softer—with regular use and washing. If you strongly prefer a light, airy set of sheets, these might not appeal to you. However, they still feel breathable on warm nights so they're not out of the question for hot sleepers. If you're looking for an organic, hotel-style sheet, they can't be beat. Plus, after six months of regular use, they looked brand-new.

The GOTS-certified organic cotton is produced in a Fair Trade-certified factory, resulting in a set of high-quality sheets with a lightweight, smooth texture.

In our years of testing, we've seen a wide range of percale sheets. We've found that some are rougher than others, but we were impressed by how soft this West Elm set felt. We gave them a perfect score for texture in our lab testing. Plus, the sheets performed quite well in our stain tests, and we could completely lift coffee stains from the material with a stain treatment and wash. However, rubbing the surface of the sheets with sandpaper did create a small hole—so these aren't the most durable sheets on the market and might not be ideal for pets or particularly restless sleepers.

They also tend to wrinkle after washing, but that's fairly common with percale sheets. Plus, the wrinkles were less noticeable after stretching the fitted sheet over our test mattress. One other small criticism: We wish the sheets had long and short labels to make it easier to put the sheets on.

How It Performed Long-Term

Sometimes sheets perform worse in our long-term testing than in the lab, but this West Elm is a pleasantly surprising case of the opposite. After testing the sheets at home for a month, we fell in love with the crisp, smooth texture. We confirmed that stains do come out of the material fairly easily (including some makeup stains we accidentally got on the material). Perhaps most notably, while the sheets didn't get high breathability scores in our lab tests, we found them to feel quite cool and breathable when using them at home. We think most sleepers will be comfortable in this set on both warm and cold nights. We didn't notice any issues with durability, and we didn't mind the wrinkling after washing, either.

Don't let the name fool you—we found in our testing that these Organic Crinkled Sheets from Coyuchi are undeniably soft and comfortable. The crinkled effect comes from applying proprietary spinning and weaving to organic cotton to produce a washed fabric exclusive to the brand. Some sheets are available in more hues—however, we think the ten available colorways for this set, ranging from classic white to deep oranges and greens to subtle striped patterns, are particularly appealing for modern-day bedscapes. The double-seamed edge adds to the sheets' luxurious look.

The texture and thick materials earned high points in our testing. In addition to their construction and softness, these organic cotton sheets also stood out as cool and breathable. We wouldn't describe them as lightweight, but they aren't hot. We found them to be breathable and cool. We think these high-quality sheets are a great option for staying comfortable on both warm and cold nights.
