Whether you prefer cozy cotton, microfiber, bamboo, or silk, the best wrinkle-free sheets make your bed look crisp and comfy, with no ironing required.

Over the last several years, we've spent hours testing sheets from the top bedding brands in The Lab and at home. When testing sheets, we evaluate the quality, construction, and overall value of each set. We lie on (and even sleep on) the sheets and run them through the wash to assess how durable and easy to care for they are. If you sleep hot, not to worry—we test for breathability, too.

Below, we've rounded up the best wrinkle-free sheets we've tested in real life, supplemented with popular options we've found via online research. Whether you prefer super silky or a little crisp, you'll find a wrinkle-resistant sheet set on our list.

What We Don't Like
  • Might be too cool for cold sleepers

Many shoppers opt for cotton sheets—but if you'd like a soft, silky material that won't wrinkle, a set of bamboo-derived sheets can be a great choice. Bampure's 100% Organic Bamboo Sheets are a top pick because they're cozy yet lightweight enough for year-round use. “Lyocell and viscose sheets are going to be somewhat softer than cotton,” says Frances Holmes Kozen, the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Fiber Science & Apparel Design at Cornell University. “These regenerated cellulose materials tend to be really flexible and very soft.” She adds that although these materials aren’t as crisp, they tend to be more wrinkle-resistant compared to traditional cotton.

While lab testing these sheets, we found they looked very high-end with nice stitching and an extra flap on the pillowcases to cover the opening. The extra elastic on each corner of the fitted sheet also allowed it to stay in place very well. The texture of the material felt cool to the touch yet extremely soft, ideal for warm sleepers who want to stay cozy without overheating. The silky sheets had a nice shine to them, which only accentuated the smooth texture. They remained cool throughout the duration of the test. Post-wash, there were no visible signs of wear. At around $100, we think these sheets are fairly priced considering the soft, buttery texture and high-end look.

How It Performed Long-Term

We took this sheet set home and tested it for six months to determine if it'd hold up to routine use—and we are pleased to report that it did. We loved the silky, soft texture, and we found that they were much less wrinkly than some cotton and linen sheets we'd previously tried. We tested them during a heat wave, and they were wonderfully lightweight, cool, and breathable. They were easy to wash, and we didn't notice any wear and tear over the course of the testing period.

What We Don't Like

While purchasing new sheets can feel like a daunting task, the Cosy House Collection Luxury Bamboo Sheets prove you don’t have to break the bank to find a high-quality option you can keep for years to come. Despite the low price point, we found the overall quality of these sheets to be high-end, as they felt luxuriously soft and didn’t have any defects or flaws upon arrival. We loved the elastic ends on the fitted sheet, as well as how large the top sheet is.

Made with a blend of bamboo rayon and microfiber, we found the texture to feel smooth to the touch and very comfortable against bare skin. This sheet set also provided adequate breathability, as they felt very cool when testing began. While we felt slightly warmer after five minutes of laying underneath the sheets, we still noted significant airflow coming through. This makes the Cosy House sheet set a great option for those who want warm sheets that won’t cause you to overheat or feel stuffy after prolonged use. These sheets also held up nicely in the wash, as they still felt soft and comfy without any noticeable snags or pilling. Overall, we think this sheet set has a ton of value considering its price point, as these sheets are comparable to high-end options that can go for almost $300.

For those who value a restful night’s sleep, the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set is worth the initial investment. During testing, we were immediately impressed by the quality of these sheets, as there were no flaws or defects upon arrival, and its embroidered logo gave the product a high-end look. We noted just how smooth and silky these sheets felt, and they even looked shiny when in the light.

We also loved just how breathable and cooling these sheets were, as we found that they felt cool to the touch and stayed that way after laying underneath them for five minutes. “If you’re looking for a sheet that’s going to be absorbent if you perspire at night, you’d be better off with cotton, lyocell, or viscose,” according to Kozen. If you tend to overheat at night, the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set will help you keep cool while you sleep. After washing these sheets, we found that they held up extremely well: They still felt extremely soft, and any wrinkles we found upon arrival were gone.

How It Performed Long-Term

These are an undeniably pricey set of sheets, but after testing them for six months, we can confirm that you won't be disappointed if you have the budget for it. They held up well to frequent washing and usage—we noticed some small loose threads after six months of use, but we used them almost every night during that time. We're impressed with the quality and longevity of this set. They remained cool and breathable, and they grew even softer over time. We looked forward to sleeping in them each night.

  • Breathable and cool to the touch

What We Don't Like

Cotton percale sheets are often prone to some wrinkling after washing—but these surprised us on that front in lab testing. They didn't wrinkle too much, and they went onto the bed nicely. We found the luxurious material to be very soft and smooth, rather than scratchy or stiff like some lesser-quality cotton options.

Percale weaves tend to be more breathable than sateen, and these were no exception. The 300-thread-count sheets felt cool to the touch in our testing. We thought the construction seemed quite nice, and we suspected they'd hold up well in the long run.

All in all, we were very impressed by this sheet set. The list price for this set is upwards of $150 for a queen size, but we've noticed that you can often get them on sale on Lands' End's website. If you're looking for a set of cotton percale sheets that will wrinkle less than other options, these are well worth the cost—especially if you can get them at a discount.

How It Performed Long-Term

After testing this sheet set for a month, we appreciated how soft and nice they felt. We sent the sheets home with a cold-to-average sleeper and a hot sleeper, and both testers were comfortable using them. We found them easy to launder, and we didn't observe any changes in texture or quality over time.

  • Some threads frayed post-wash

If you prioritize a luxuriously silky texture when it comes to your sheets, The Company Store Rayon Sateen Sheet Set is a great sateen option that’ll feel like sleeping on a cloud. According to Kozen, when purchasing a new sheet set, one of the best ways to determine wrinkle resistance is by paying attention to the type of weave it’s made with, as this determines the fabric structure of that material. “When made with a sateen weave instead of a plain weave, you have a smoother surface on the sheet,” she says. “[It] tends not to wrinkle quite so much because of its structure.”

Upon arrival, we were extremely impressed by the overall feel and quality of these sheets. This product had an extremely soft and comfortable texture that reminded us of high-end hotel sheets. We also loved how breathable the product was, as the lightweight fabric remained cool throughout our testing. Post-wash, we did note that some threads started to fray at the corners and there was slight shrinkage. Otherwise, the sheets held up nicely. While this product may have a higher price point than other options, we still think it’s worth the investment due to its extreme comfort and deluxe texture.

  • Good balance between silky and crisp

  • Heavier option that’s still breathable

  • Deep-pocket design fits thicker mattresses

What We Don’t Like
  • Not as smooth as other options

  • Some loose threads upon arrival

Eucalyptus has long been a popular material for bedding due to its breathability, soft texture, and sustainability, and The Dreamcare 100% Eucalyptus Sheets is our top pick for those who prefer the material. Upon arrival, the sheets looked elegant and fit snugly around the mattress. We loved the added detail of a convenient side pocket, which provides storage for small items such as remote controls or reading glasses. While we did notice some loose threads upon arrival, they still had an overall high-quality appearance.

These sheets are made of eucalyptus-derived lyocell that we thought strikes a good balance between crisp and silky. In addition, the top sheet seemed to feel heavier in weight than other options we’ve tested. Despite this, we found the Dreamcare Sheets to be surprisingly breathable, as they provided adequate airflow and didn’t cause us to overheat after lying underneath them. After washing the sheets, they felt extremely soft and had no wrinkles. While the price of these sheets is fairly middle-of-the-road, we found that they were very comparable to other high-end sheets on the market.

Plus, if you're a hot sleeper, the bamboo lyocell material will help keep you cool throughout the night. How We Tested

To help you find the best wrinkle-free sheets for your needs, we put some of the top options to the test at The Lab in Des Moines, Iowa, and in our own homes. We evaluated them on the basis of quality, texture, breathability, durability, and overall value. In addition to rating the overall comfort and cooling properties of the sheets, we also assessed how the sheets looked and felt right out of the package (including how wrinkly they were); how they looked and fit on the bed; and how they held up in the washer and dryer. We combined their insights with input from our editors and home testers to bring you this list.

What to Look for in Wrinkle-Free Sheets

Fiber

Some of the most common fibers you’re likely to see are cotton, polyester, bamboo, and silk. Finely combed polyester, also known as microfiber, is an affordable and popular choice for wrinkle-free sheets. Bamboo sheets are made from the pulp of a bamboo plant but endure a rigorous chemical process to form the fibers used for sheets. Sheets made from delicate silk fibers are the most luxurious but carry a price tag to match.

Weave

The weave of the fibers making up the sheets will have a big impact on how the material feels when you touch it. For a smooth, crisp feel, look for sheets with a percale weave. A sateen weave will feel silkier and softer to the touch thanks to a difference in the way the horizontal and vertical fibers are woven together.

Thread Count

A sheet’s thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads in a square inch. The higher the number, the more densely woven the sheet is. This can sometimes be an indicator of a sheet’s quality, it should be noted that sometimes a sheet set with a lower thread count but a higher-quality fiber or weave will make for a better night’s sleep.
