Gender reveal games and parties are a unique way for parent/s-to-be to tell the gender of the baby to friends and family. Gender reveal party games keep guests talking and laughing the whole party long. These parties can be held separately or in combination with a baby shower. Sometimes, future parents want to remain in the dark about the baby's gender, either finding out at the party or waiting until after birth.

All these games are meant to tease guests and ask for their predictions about whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. If you're looking for some games that aren't necessarily gender party-specific, you'll love these baby shower games, including bingo and these free baby shower game printables.

Wives' Tales

There are a lot of old wives' tales about how your pregnancy symptoms can predict the gender of the child you're carrying. This game is all about seeing if they're right. Have mom-to-be fill out this wives' tales prediction sheet from The Postpartum Party and post it where all the guests can see. Ask the guests whether they agree with the wives' tale's prediction or if they have another prediction.

Diaper Raffle

Since gender reveal parties are a pretty new concept, most guests will be stumped on what to bring as a gift. You can help your guests by sending out these diaper raffle tickets with your invitation. Guests who would like to get a gift can bring a package of diapers along with their tickets to have the chance to win a small prize.

Cutting the Cake

One of the most popular ways to reveal a baby's gender is by cutting a cake to show pink or blue icing in the middle. It can be one of the last activities of the party, leaving guests guessing until the last hour. You can ask a baker to do it or bake it yourself, coloring the icing or using pink or blue food coloring to color the cake batter to correspond with the baby's sex. Cover the outside of the cake with frosting in a neutral color.

Pink or Blue?

Here's a unique gender reveal party game that all your guests will love, especially the music fans. Use the Pink or Blue? free printable from Play. Party. Plan. to read the lyrics on the sheet and try to come up with the original artist and the song's name. All the songs have the word "pink" or "blue" in the artist or song name. Want to go the extra mile with this game? Create a playlist with all the songs to play during the party.

Movie Reveal

Balloon Release

An absolute party pleaser is a colored balloon release best orchestrated by getting helium-filled blue or pink balloons. Tie them up in a big bundle and get a refrigerator or wardrobe-sized box. To decorate the box, cover it in gender-neutral wrapping paper and give it a big bow. Ask the guests of honor to open the box. To keep the party gag environmentally friendly, tether or tie down the balloon cluster firmly to the inside of the box so the balloons do not float away.

Blue or Pink—What Do You Think?

Instead of asking your guests to wear pink or blue to the gender reveal party, make it into a game they can play when they arrive. In the game of Blue or Pink—What Do You Think? Display your sonogram photo and have a blue bowtie and pink ribbon pins next to it. Have the guests guess if they think the baby will be a boy or a girl and put on the pin to show their guess.

Don't Say "Boy or Girl" Game

This is a spin on the classic "Don't Say Baby" Game, where guests try not to say the word "baby" during a baby shower. In this twist, you want guests to not say "boy" or "girl" during your gender reveal party.

Give each guest a clothespin, sticker, or something else to wear during the party. If they're caught saying "boy" or "girl," the guest who heard them will get to steal theirs. The guest that has the most clothespins at the end is the winner!

Baby Name Race

This game will have guests racing against the clock to come up with baby names that begin with each letter of the alphabet.

There are two Baby Name Race printables, one for a boy and one for a girl. You could have guests complete both or choose which one they think will predict the new baby's gender. You may also get some great name ideas!

Baby Voting Ballot

Just before you reveal the gender of the baby, have guests cast their votes using these free, printable baby ballot cards from Marty's Musings.

Team Pink vs. Team Blue Yard Games

You can use the Team Pink vs. Team Blue theme for just about any game, but they work incredibly well for yard games. Put the guests on their prediction teams or let them choose their teams.

Reveal the Baby Name

In this game, the parent/s-to-be fill a chalkboard of their favorite names for a baby with boy, girl, or gender-neutral names. Upon arrival at the party, ask the guests to select their favorite name off of the board, which indicates not only what they think the gender will be but also how well they know the expectant parent/s. If the parent/s know the gender and the name and feel comfortable telling the name—they share the name of their "coming soon" bundle of joy. If the name they choose is unisex, the name reveal can be one clue of many during a party full of fun games.

You Can Bet on It

A spin on the Baby Voting Ballot game, this game takes voting up a notch. For friends and family who like to gamble or wouldn't mind a little cash prize at the end, a game of chance is always a fun time. When guests arrive, ask them to toss in a dollar (or raise the ante) to participate.

How it works: Give them a piece of paper so they can write their name; this serves as their ballot. Create two ballot boxes—boy or girl—and ask them to cast their vote for one or the other. By the end of the party, announce the gender and randomly select one name from the appropriate ballot box matching the correct gender. In this game, everyone had a fair chance to win walking in, but only one person walks out with a wad of cash.

Juice Pong

Substitute pink lemonade and blue raspberry punch for beer, pick a side, and play a pong game. Divide the game by girls versus boys, and try to get your ball into your cups. See who wins and reveal at the end which team was right.

Baby Cornhole

Cornhole is a perfect outdoor game that everyone can play, and it's tons of fun. You can use cornhole boards that you have already, and to make it a gender-specific party, get some pink or blue beanbags.

Pop the Belly

Like carnival darts, fill up balloons with a particular color of confetti—blue or pink—and line up a firing squad of friends and family to throw darts at the balloons. To turn this into a gender reveal, fill one or all of the balloons with either pink or blue confetti.

Bib Battle

Have guests decorate bibs with blue or pink markers, paints, or stencils. The parent/s-to-be can choose a winner. Offer the guests a bib station that has all the creative tools. Each bib—winner or not—will have sentimental significance when you see your guests' funny, cheery, or endearing message or artwork months later when you pull one out for your little one. You can use blank white bibs or substitute the bib for a onesie.

Pacifier Hunt

Host a scavenger hunt for pacifiers similar to an Easter egg hunt. Hide the pacifiers around the party location—the guest who finds the most wins. Hide pink and blue pacifiers to give this game more of a gender-reveal twist. The guest with the most pacifiers of the correct gender wins.

Guess the Delivery Date

Another popular game geared toward the mom-to-be is when she will deliver the baby. Other details people like to guess include the duration of the labor and when labor starts (usually marked by the water breaking or when contractions start). If the pregnancy is in the early stages and you haven't mentioned the due date yet, you can include that as part of the guessing game. Guests write down their guesses of the birthdate, due date, or labor start then parents hold onto the guesses until the baby is born.

Gender Reveal Charades

Playing charades with everything geared toward baby and baby-related topics can be rip-roaring fun. Guests can try to guess words or concepts, and even some creative acting prompts can be a unique way of revealing the baby's gender.

Write a Nursery Rhyme or Lullaby

For families with a history of being musically inclined or writers, consider hosting a nursery rhyme or lullaby-writing contest. If that's too much for guests, consider a fill-in-the-blank game by finishing the line of the well-known lullaby or poem or asking guests to write another stanza to a popular baby jingle.

Customized Lottery Scratch-off

If you want the party to interactively find out the gender of the baby at the same time, give each guest a customized scratch-off ticket. You can find customized scratch-offs online, with each card having the same result—boy or girl. The scratcher is also an adorable, memorable keepsake for your baby album.

Cupcake or Cookie Decorating Contest

Most guests love sweets, and many may enjoy a cupcake or cookie decorating contest. Give each guest a plain cupcake or blank sugar cookie and provide all the decorating supplies—different color icings, candies, pastry bags with tips, and sprinkles. Ask the parent/s-to-be or the grandparents-to-be to be the judge of this contest. The best part is everyone can eat their creations afterward. As an added bonus, have pink or blue icing on the inside of the cupcakes to give this game a gender-reveal element with a bite by revealing the big news.

Baby Bottle Chug

For this party activity, the party hosts know the gender of the baby, but the parents-to-be are still in the dark and are ready to learn the gender. Give the mom or dad-to-be a solid-walled baby bottle (not transparent) filled with a pink or blue sports drink. After they chug the bottle, they have to stick out their tongues for everyone to find out the baby's gender.

Pinata Finale

Fill a pinata with pink or blue candy or confetti, and ask your guests to take a whack at guessing the gender. Your friends and family can find out the baby's gender once they break open the pinata.
