Katie Bowler

Katie has always had a passion for products ever since she was a child. She has fond memories of shopping in department stores with her mom and grandma and going through all the departments helping them shop for everything from bed pillows to a new handbag. The joy of shopping with her mother and grandmother led her to her first job at that same department store helping other people find just what they need. The skills she acquired working retail as a teenager helped immensely in her career launching new products as well as in her current role writing methodologies. It's also been helpful when it comes to buying Christmas presents!

Katie joined the Research + Testing team in 2022 and currently supports The Spruce by writing methodologies for home merchandise. She researches products and consults outside experts to craft thorough methodologies to test products in the lab and in the real world. Her background in launching textile products combined with her textile science education make her bedding and towel methodologies very robust and puts them to the test!

After working for various retail companies for home merchandise, she began having a particular fondness for home products. She loves to decorate and update her home with the latest trends and gadgets.

Katie lives in the Midwest with her husband Andrew.

Favorite Purchase:

It's so hard to pick my favorite purchase, but if I had to pick a favorite purchase as of late, I would have to say upgrading my old bed pillow to the Nest Bedding Easy Breather pillow. I'm a side sleeper and have always slept on memory foam but have lately found I need more support to help with neck and shoulder stiffness in the morning. I love the Easy Breather pillow since it is made of shredded memory foam so it has give and memory but it also is adjustable. The pillow comes overstuffed and allows you to add in or take out as much filling as you need to get just the pillow to be the right height for your shoulders. This makes the pillow feel like it was made for me and has significantly helped to get a better night sleep!
