The Lucid 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper is a relatively affordable option that boasts breathability and multiple body zones that maximize comfort. But does it deliver? I tested the Lucid bed topper to see just how soft and comfortable it is. Read on to get all the details and discover if it can work for your latex, regular, or hybrid mattress.

Design: Purple and plush

The Lucid 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper comes in vacuum-sealed plastic packaging. The instructions say to let it sit out on a flat surface in a ventilated area for 48 hours before using it. However, the manufacturer said it may expand in less than 48 hours and can be used as soon as it takes its full shape.

If you’re like me and do not have plenty of extra space to spare, the bed is basically one of the only king-sized surfaces available in my house to lay it out flat. I opened the mattress topper early in the morning and placed it on my bed to let it take shape. It expanded to its full height and shape within a couple of hours, so I slept on it that night.

Lucid’s Lavender Mattress Topper has five body zones, which are designed to relieve pressure and support different sleeping positions. Although it’s not explicitly stated by the manufacturer, the five zones appear to be the head, shoulders, torso, and hip-to-foot zone. The zones have textured strips in various widths from the head area of the mattress topper to the foot area. Each zone has either spiral or zigzag contouring with grooves in the material.

After maneuvering it around my bedroom and taking the sheets on and off, I noticed slight tears in a couple of spots along the sides. Although the zigzags and swirls make the 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper extra plush, the deep grooves appear to weaken the material a little bit. Time will be the judge, but this makes me think it’s not the most durable mattress topper on the market.

Material: Memory Foam with a Memorable Scent

This mattress topper is made from extra-soft memory foam, which makes it remarkably plush. While the material is soft and airy, memory foam is known to trap heat, so it’s not the best in terms of temperature regulation. This wasn’t an issue for me, as I don’t run hot at night. I remained comfortably warm through while I slept, but some people might prefer a more breathable material.

One of the most notable features of this mattress topper is its lavender scent. Upon taking the Lucid 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper out of the box and letting it air out to take shape, the scent was somewhat strong. It was definitely noticeable from the next room but not overpowering. That said, when I put the topper on my mattress and made my bed, the scent was less apparent. The lavender smell is pleasant and calming. However, after a few days of use, it fades substantially.

Thickness/Support: Two Very Squishy Inches

The super-soft and responsive memory foam makes it exceptionally squishy with medium support. When I slept on my side, the spiral-textured zone felt like it reduced some pressure on my hips. I think another inch would provide more support and comfort, but I tend to prefer more cushioning, in general.

Comfort: An Improved Sleeping Experience

The Lucid 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper is an extremely comfortable product. When I sleep, I switch from my side to my stomach throughout the night. It was comfortable for both sleeping positions. I tossed and turned less during the night with this topper.

Also, the infused lavender scent adds a luxurious touch. It helped create a calming atmosphere for the first couple of nights before it faded. Each morning, I woke up feeling rested and refreshed. This mattress topper is also comfortable for reading in bed in an upright position, which I do most nights before going to sleep.

Washing: Spot clean only

Unlike some toppers that come with removable covers, this mattress topper is not machine-washable. However, the manufacturer says it can be spot-cleaned using mild soap and a damp cloth.

Price: Relatively reasonable

With a price tag ranging from $35 to $70 based on the bed size, the Lucid 2-Inch Zoned Lavender Mattress Topper is relatively affordable compared to similar options. It ships directly from the manufacturer, even when purchased from third parties. This helps keep the price low. It’s a reasonable choice for those who want to make their mattresses more comfortable without spending a fortune.

The gel-infused material is supposed to offer a cooling effect. This mattress topper only comes queen and king size and two thicknesses (3-inch and 4-inch).
