We purchased MOOSOO's Cordless Vacuum so our writer could put it to the test. Keep reading for our full product review.

Cordless stick vacuums have some advantages over full-sized onesthey are often more versatile than their bulkier counterparts. Since they run on batteries, you can freely move from room to room without the inconvenience of a cord. Cordless stick vacuums tend to have a little less suction power, making them ideal for spot cleanings and quick spruce ups. The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum is one of the most lightweight models on the market. I put it to the test to see how well it worked on various surfaces throughout my home.

Once I had the vacuum fully assembled, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how lightweight it isjust under three pounds. While aesthetics may not be important when purchasing a vacuum, the MOOSOO has a sleek and modern design. It’s only available in one colora vibrant red with black accents. Since it is pretty bright, you may not want to mount it in a conspicuous area.

The MOOSOO has impressive suction for a stick vacuum, but it doesn’t deliver the same power you’d expect from an upright or canister vacuum. It did a great job picking up dirt, pet hair, and other debris from my hardwood floors and low-pile carpets. It was noticeably less effective on my thicker carpets even when set to high, but an upright vacuum is more suitable for high-pile carpets. This vacuum has two power modes—low and high—and you can switch easily between them with the push of a button. Once the vacuum is running, you don’t have to keep your finger on the power switch—which is a big plus.

Thanks to a swiveling floorhead, I easily accessed tight corners and got under low furniture. The MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum has a generously sized dustbin. I was able to vacuum several rooms before it needed to be emptied. Emptying the dustbin is a breeze—it swings open with the push of a lever. This model also has a HEPA filter that traps dust and other allergens, making it a good choice for allergy sufferers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the vacuum have any special features or accessories?

The MOOSOO easily converts to a handheld vacuum for smaller jobs. The two-in-one design is very convenient and allows for more thorough cleaning. Adding to its versatility, the MOOSOO comes with two attachments—a crevice nozzle and a 2-in-1 oval brush. I used the brush on more delicate items like upholstery, lampshades, and drapes. It removed dust without sucking up the fabric. The crevice nozzle is useful for those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, such as couch cushions, vents, and windowsills. Another great feature is the LED headlights, which enhance visibility by illuminating dark areas.

How is the assembly process?

The MOOSOO arrives unassembled (in nine pieces), which was a bit daunting for a novice user. The instructions could use some improvement; they lacked details and skipped over some important steps. For starters, I wasn’t sure where or how to insert the battery, but I figured it out by sight. I had difficulty attaching the dust cup to the handle. The parts don’t click in and out of place all that smoothly. I found it helpful to refer to a YouTube video for clarification on the assembly process. With all these hiccups, it took me well over a half-hour to put the vacuum together.

What is the battery life?

The MOOSOO lasts up to 30 minutes per charge. I have a large, two-story home, and I had to interrupt my cleaning session to recharge the battery. Due to a limited runtime, it’s better suited for smaller jobs like picking up dry spills, dusting off bookshelves, and cleaning my car’s interior. Once you fully exhaust the battery, it takes about four hours to recharge.

Are there any drawbacks to the design?

The battery indicator light on this vacuum isn’t all that precise. It will flash red several times right before it’s about to die, which is hardly any warning at all. The first time I used it, I was forced to stop cleaning right in the middle of a job.

I wish this vacuum came with a stand because it doesn’t remain upright on its own. In between cleanings, I had to prop it up against a piece of furniture. It comes with a wall mount—so you can store and charge the vacuum simultaneously. It was tricky to decide on a place to hang it because it needs to be within reach of an outlet. Since my closets don’t have any power outlets, I decided the garage was the best location. If you’d rather not mount the vacuum on a wall, the top portion of the vacuum—which contains the battery—acts as a removable port and can be charged separately.

MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum vs. the Competition

Retailing for $500, the Dyson V8 Absolute Cord-Free Vacuum is one of the most expensive models on the market. One of our reviewers says it delivers an “unbeatable performance” and works great on all surfaces, even high-pile carpets. Like the MOOSOO, it converts to a handheld vacuum. The Dyson comes with an impressive selection of attachments, including a mini motorized tool that picks up pet hair and ground-in dirt.

The Shark Freestyle Pro Cordless Vacuum, which retails for $150, has more power than the MOOSOO. I found it to be much more effective on higher-pile carpets. However, the Shark Freestyle Pro isn’t as versatile: It doesn’t convert to a handheld vacuum, and it doesn’t come with any attachments. If you need a simple vacuum strictly for floor-cleaning, this model is a good choice.

Final Verdict

A great buy.

The MOOSOO is a great option for those looking for a lightweight, cordless vacuum at an affordable price. Since it has a limited run time (up to 30 minutes per charge), it’s best suited for spruce ups in smaller homes.
