We purchased UGG's Coquette Slippers so our writer could put them to the test. Keep reading for our full product review.

When it comes to footwear, a comfortable slipper is a must-have—at least in our household. If you’re looking for some warmth too, a pair made from shearling is a smart choice. We tested the UGG Coquette Slipper, wearing them around the house—and on the occasional trip outside—for over a week. We assessed components including materials, design, fit, and performance. Look to see if these slippers are worthy of their hefty price tag.

Materials: Suede, shearling, and rubber

These slippers have a sheepskin suede upper, and they are lined with shearling, which gives them an ultra-soft, luxurious feel. The cork-infused rubber outsole makes them durable enough to be worn inside and outside.

The material is water-resistant, so they can withstand a little rain, but they are not intended for severe weather. UGG boots and suede products have very specific cleaning instructions, depending on the type of stain you want to remove.

Design: Backless style has its pros and cons

The UGG Coquette Slipper is available in many colors. It is marketed as a women's slipper, but can be worn by men with smaller feet who want an easy slip-on featuring a small fur ruffle. We ordered ours in gray, which is a darker charcoal hue. We figured a darker color would hide dirt and stains better. We liked how this particular color was neutral. The soles, stitching, logo, and materials are the same color throughout. If you’re looking for more contrast, color options like “chestnut,” “natural,” and “sand” offer a two-toned color scheme.

Hands down, these are the most comfortable slippers we’ve ever come across.

Since these slippers are backless, they are easy to slip on and off. They aren’t our first choice in terms of design. We prefer a closed slipper that provides more heel support. Thanks to an ample amount of fluffy fur lining, they will keep the majority of your foot warm. However, since the back of your foot is exposed, they are not as warm as a closed slipper. While these slippers can be worn outside, the backless style isn’t ideal for cold winter weather.

Fit: True to size

At first, I debated which size to order. A lot of users say these slippers stretch over time and recommend sizing down. In our experience, most of our slippers have eventually stretched out width-wise, and we were concerned the length would be too short if we ordered a size smaller. I’m glad we went with my actual size—a women’s 8; they fit perfectly. The slipper had just the right amount of space between the heel and the back of the shoe. Even though they are slip-ons and backless, my foot had a secure fit. I walked around in them quite a bit, and they didn’t come loose or slip off.

Performance: Incredibly soft and water-resistant

Right out of the box, we were very impressed with the quality of these slippers. Hands down, these are the most comfortable slippers we’ve ever come across. They are incredibly soft and slipping them on felt heavenly. Unlike other brands of slippers, there was no break-in period with these. They instantly had that lived-in feel of a favorite shoe. It’s very easy to wear these slippers for hours on end. They kept my feet warm, and they never felt too hot and didn’t cause any excess moisture.

We have wood floors throughout our house and marble in our primary bathroom. The rubber soles provided a firm grip on these surfaces, which tend to be a little slippery. Despite the plushness of the upper portion of the slipper, the bottoms are also sturdy enough for quick outdoor tasks like running to the mailbox or taking your dog on a walk around the block. The suede exterior is water-resistant. To gauge their performance, I wore them outside for brief jaunts like getting the newspaper or taking our dogs out to the yard. The suede exterior lived up to its water-resistant promise. The slippers got a little wet due to some light rain, and they dried quickly without any discoloration or damage.

About This Term: Primary Bathroom

Many real estate associations, including the National Association of Home Builders, have classified the term "Master Bedroom" (or "Master Bathroom") as discriminatory. "Primary Bedroom" is the name now widely used among the real estate community and better reflects the purpose of the room.

There is no question that the UGG Coquette provides plush comfort. However, they don’t have much arch support. While these slippers are perfect for lounging around the house, I would switch to a more supportive shoe if I intended to do anything more than light walking.

Price: High quality justifies high cost

If you are budget conscious like we are, paying $120 for a pair of slippers may seem like a hard pill to swallow. However, we feel the exceptional comfort is worth the cost. You can find plenty of slipper options under $50, but those slippers do not match up in terms of quality. Considering that the Coquette is water-resistant and can be worn both inside and outside, you should expect to pay more.

Competition: Cheaper cost vs. quality

UltraIdeas Cozy Memory Foam Slippers: Retailing for $19, the UltraIdeas Cozy Memory Foam Slippers earn rave reviews for their softness. Made of three layers of memory foam, users say the fleece lining is warm and cozy. On the downside, they also say the memory foam loses its resilience over time. The UltraIdeas slippers come in four different colors and all sizes. A big plus is they are also machine washable.

Haflinger Unisex AT Wool Slippers: Retailing around $80, the Haflinger Unisex AT Wool Slippers are still an investment but are cheaper than the UGG Coquette. Where these slippers might edge out the UGGs is if you need arch support. These slippers have molded arch support. The wool material keeps feet warm while allowing them to breathe. Designed for both men and women, these slippers come in an assortment of colors.

Final Verdict

Go ahead and treat yourself.

We don’t normally splurge on slippers, but the UGG Coquette’s plush comfort is worth the cost in our opinion. What’s more, they are water-resistant and the soles are sturdy enough for indoor and outdoor use. Even though there’s not a lot of arch support, these slippers are still exceptional on the whole.
