So long, Bed Bath & Beyond—we miss you already. The mainstay retailer was an obvious stop when stocking up on dorm room essentials, like bedding, towels, and a bathroom caddy that you aren’t embarrassed to carry down the hallway. With all Bed Bath & Beyond stores now closed, you’ll have to take your long list of "must buy" items and shop for college move-in day elsewhere.

Not to fret. There are plenty of retailers—some quirky, some classic, all quality—that stock everything you need to design a dorm room. You'll want to create a space where you can comfortably cram for a philosophy exam, bond with new friends, and express your own style in your first home-away-from-home. Don’t be surprised if everyone will want to hang out in your room, though.

We may not be able to help you study for that exam, but we can get you started on styling the coolest dorm room in your entire residence hall. Scroll on for seven great places to shop for college move-in must-haves.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters is the ultimate retailer for adorable, young adult decor that feels sophisticated yet doesn’t take itself too seriously. They make even the most mundane items, like desk supplies and over-door hooks, style-forward, and oh-so-fun.

Keep scrolling for cheeky wall art, beautiful bedding, and a tulip clip desk lamp that’ll illuminate all those late-night study sessions. Plus, where else could you find a disco ball essential oil diffuser? Maybe run that one by your roommate before clicking "add to cart" though.

Dormify

Dormify

Dormify lives up to its name. They carry anything and everything you’ll need to add a punch of personality to your dorm room. Shop for items like cozy, colorful bedding in twin XL sizing (which is standard for many dorms, yet hard to find in the stores), custom neon signs, and plenty of practical storage solutions.

Feeling overwhelmed by too many options? Dormify even offers stylist-curated rooms with various aesthetics to help narrow down your style. It makes shopping an entire room’s worth of decor just a single click away. It doesn't get much easier.

IKEA

IKEA

Everyone’s favorite Swedish megastore has it all—and then some. Bedding? Check. An affordable loveseat that could fit under a lofted that? Definitely. Stock up on drawer organizers, under bed storage, and wire baskets worthy of organizing your desk supplies while you’re there too. Best of all, you can’t beat IKEA prices. Plus, if you choose to purchase IKEA furniture, you and your roommate can have your first bonding moment trying to read the instructions together.

West Elm

West Elm

For a sophisticated dorm room that all your new friends will ooh and ahh over, choose a few items that'll make your life easier from West Elm. Each of their pieces, from a refined shoe rack to a foldable double hamper, marries functional organization with sleek style. (Trust us—a chic hamper makes learning how to do laundry not as daunting.) You’ll pay a bit more for West Elm pieces, but rest assured they’ll last long past graduation.
